This is a really bad picture of our card, but I couldn't get a good one because of the flash. The picture isn't blurry in real life.
So, did anybody watch The Biggest Loser finale last night? I was so happy that Michelle won! I thought it was really surprising that America voted to have Ed in the finals. It was even a huge percentage who voted for him. So weird. Anyway, every contestant looked so good, and it was so inspiring to see how they've all changed their lives. It made me feel silly to not be committed enough to lost my last ten pounds.
This last couple of weeks I've been eating vegan. For a long time, I've considered becoming a vegetarian. I've never liked any kind of meat much, and I avoid any kind of red meat at all costs. I do eat chicken fairly often, but I often have a hard time eating it because I'm so skeptical about all of its parts! I guess I'm just weird. Anyway, I was doing some internet research a couple of weeks ago and the information I found was really bothersome. I've heard about the way animals are treated in an effort to produce food for consumers, but I always just kind of ignored it and assumed that it couldn't be true. While I still haven't personally been to these facilities myself, the information that I've read and heard has just really bothered me, and I can't stop thinking about it.
So, I've decided to stop eating meat altogether. I haven't missed it at all during the last couple of weeks (I knew I wouldn't.) Last night, J and I went to Chili's for date night and for the first time I felt disappointed at the thought of not eating meat. The reason was because my favorite healthy meal there is the chicken fajita pita. I just didn't know what else to get that would be healthy and cheap (salmon etc is expensive!) However, after a couple minutes of thinking through my options and discussing with J, I came up with a plan. I ordered the fajita pita with vegetables only and changed out the fries for black beans. I put some of the black beans inside the pita. It was so good! After I ordered I realized that it wasn't the chicken that I wanted at all, I just wanted the pita and grilled vegetables. Once I thought of a way to still get that I was totally satisfied. The meal was so good and I felt great about finding a way to stick to my new committment! Anyway, I haven't decided yet whether I will go completely vegan, but this last week has gone really well and so far I can't think of a reason not to. My only concern is spending so much time staying with family during the holidays and not having complete control over my food choices. We'll see. Feel free to share any thoughts!

love the card!!
I LOVE that card-so precious! And I am with you on the whole eating thing. I am not much of a meat eater. But unfortunately I am not much of a veggie eater either, so I do eat a little meat. But I am REALLY funny about chicken! some (ok, most) people think I am so weird :)
BL finale was crazy. I couldn't believe Phil and Amy! Anyways, your cards are super cute! :)
Merry Christmas!
Congrats on trying out being vegan. Since May I dropped all meat from my diet and haven't missed it one bit! I feel better, I've lost 10 lbs. and yes, the way they treat most animals {unless you buy organic} is disgusting and inhumane. I attended a RAW "cooking" class this past Sunday and don't think I will go 100% raw but it is interesting to find out about different ideas and ways that are out there. Good luck with your new way of eating and please keep us posted through the process and progress!
