learning a lesson

This is me in my dream car.

Any guesses on what this baby is?

I've never really cared a lot about cars. I've always driven a semi old car. My first was an '83 Honda Prelude with over 200,000 miles. Faded red paint, no a/c, but with a cute little spoiler and quick as lightening. ha! There were 3 girls in my grade with the same name as me, all three had red Prelude's. Mine was an '83, theirs 2001s. It never really bothered me, though. I loved that car.

Then came my second car - the Neon. Sure, they aren't the sportiest or coolest cars on the road, but it did have a/c and a stereo. That was all I needed.

Next comes my current car. My husband so sweetly and selflessly traded me his '01 Grand Am for my neon because my a/c had stopped working, and he didn't want me to be hot. What a catch, huh? I've appreciated having a nice car that is so comfortable to drive around in. We are so blessed to have two cars that run well, and I'm so thankful!

So, my sister was here to visit us for the past two days. She is looking to buy a new car, so one night we got the bright idea to go test drive one of the kind of cars she's looking at. This car happens to be the same car I've admired and loved from afar for months, but never even considered thinking about getting to have one myself. So, we get to the car lot, step out of our Explorer, walk over to said car, open the door, and slide in. And oh my gosh it was perfect. It was so cute from the outside and it just felt right inside! Let me tell you, though...never go test drive a car that you love if you don't plan on getting one. Take it from me, it is a bad bad idea. It was a standard, which I love to drive, it was so small and cute. I totally fell in love. Now I've got the bug (no, that's not a clue:).

Well, you won't see this girl getting a new ride anytime soon, but maybe someday. Let's just say I'm working on contentment this week. I think it's a hard lesson to learn, but so important because it doesn't matter how many new cars etc I get...I know that I won't ever be content until I learn to be content as I am. Pray for me:)

I'm going to say it is a mini cooper! :)

You are right...don't test drive a car you love if you don't plan on getting it. Been there, done that!

I totally know it is a MINI because I have one! That steering wheel is recognizable anywhere :)

I love our MINI. We got the Cooper S (the turbo charged one) and a manual so it is super fun to drive. It is definitely zippy, and both my hubby and I love driving it. We have also had fun personalizing it since we got it. If I lived closer, I would definitely give you a ride!

Also, this is a great lesson to remember. I fall into this a lot with having the latest clothes or accessories. I live in a fashion conscious place so it can sometimes be easy to get wrapped up in something that doesn't make me happy.
