Busy fun weekend...and a giveaway

This past weekend was busy, but so nice and refreshing! Friday night we had our monthly Sunday School party. We all brought homemade salsa and had a contest! J and I didn't win, but I still felt like a winner having gotten to eat all of that salsa! I could seriously live on that stuff.

Saturday morning was our first to get to sleep in as opposed to going for a long run at the crack of dawn. It was glorious. I can't say I didn't miss getting that endorphin rush first thing, but waking up to the rain and getting to cuddle with my hubby instead of running in it was such a treat! We ate some breakfast and watched some HGTV, and then decided we should get ready and head to Tulsa! I have wanted to get some MAC lipstick for awhile now, but we don't have one here. Also, I have been dying to go to Whole Foods for months! So, we made it a whole day of shopping and fit in dinner with my brother-in-law and sister-in-law as well!

We first went to Marshall's and Target. Shockingly enough, we don't have either one of those stores where we live either (can you sense the sarcasm?), so they were exciting as well. I actually found a pair of Limited dress pants for only $15! They'll be perfect for once I start teaching. I also got 2 dresses and a skirt! I really don't go shopping that often, so it felt so good to get several items that I really liked for a great price! After those stops, we headed to the mall so I could peruse the MAC counter. I maybe haven't mentioned this before, but I am a huge makeup girl! I love to experiment with different colors, and I always have on lipstick. I've always just had so much fun with makeup. Maybe it's the one side of me that is actually creative. Either way, I tried on about 20 different lipstick shades before finally settling on one. Even though it cost $15 for one tube, I think that the experience in itself was worth half that at least! I also have to give huge credit to my sweet J for experiencing this with me. He was super patient and helpful, even though I know it wasn't his activity of choice:) Thanks, dear!

After that we met up with my SIL and BIL at Peiwei. I absolutely love my inlaws (as I've mentioned before) so it was great fun to get to see them so sporadically. They are only a couple years older than J and I, so it's like having a built in set of best friends. I'm so thankful!

Anyway, our last stop was Whole Foods. I don't think I've really talked that much on here about my interest in health foods and food blogs. I could seriously just browse and read them all day long. I can't say that I always make the healthiest choices with food, but I try to most of the time! I'm always reading about new health foods and things that I so want to try, but I don't have access to most of them here. Sad! So, it was like a dream come true to get to finally go. I browsed through the entire store once, just to explore everything they have. Then I went back through a couple of times to pick out what I really wanted. Mind you, we are on a super strict budget, so unfortunately I had to be very conservative with my choices, but it was still super exciting to get to purchase some of the things I've been wanting. I ended up getting a small pack of dates, one regular coconut water, one coconut water with pomegranate, some almond milk (we have this in our town of course, but we were out so I thought I'd pick some up), and some Metromint water in Cherry mint and Orange mint. I actually found the MM water here at Food Pyramid, but they don't carry the Cherry or Orange. I love this stuff. It's so refreshing!

I've actually made a decision regarding my daily diet that I'm pretty excited about. As most of you know, I've been a vegetarian for about 6 months now. I have considered off and on taking the next step and becoming vegan, but I didn't want to do too much too soon. So, I've basically been moving in that direction slowly, and I've finally decided to go for it. I decided to challenge myself to 2 weeks of 99% vegan, and see how I feel. Then I'll decide whether to stick to it or not. Jenna and Gena are also doing a raw challenge for the month of May, and I've decided to join in! The challenge is to eat one raw meal and one raw snack every Wednesday during May. I've dappled in eating raw a little bit, so it's not going to be that big of a change, but I'm really excited to do it alongside other bloggers! And I hope to get some fun new raw recipes.

Also, Gena is doing a giveaway for a Spirooli spiralizer! I so want to try making zucchini pasta with this. You should check out her blog, even if you don't have an interest in going raw. Her blog is super inspiring, and there are a lot of great ideas for healthy living!

So, that pretty much sums up our weekend. Sunday we went to church and Sunday school and pretty much spent the rest of the just hanging out and doing nothing, which was so nice! We did get some laundry and housework done, and or course watched Amazing Race! I'm off to make a grocery list for the next couple weeks. Hope everyone else had a great weekend as well! See you tomorrow for Thailand Tuesday!

How funny!! We were in Tulsa Friday night and all day Saturday shopping too! :) Which Target did you go to??? I went to Target off of 71st (I think). How funny would that have been if we were at the same one? haha. :) It's right next to the ginormous Renaissance hotel...that's where we stayed Friday night. Had a blast! :) Oh, and I loooove PeiWei!! :) We usually eat at the one in Norman, though.

Glad you had a fun weekend! :)
