in a rut

Wow...so it's been awhile. I have to be honest. I have been in a blogging rut. I just haven't felt inspired to write about anything lately. Also, our internet has been acting up severely, so I have to use our ancient eMac. Because my sewing project is currently taking up the entire kitchen table, I have to use the computer on the couch. This would not be a problem if our little macbook was still alive, but with a giant desktop it becomes a little difficult. Not to mention, none of our pictures are on this computer, which makes it very hard to make Thailand Tuesday come together! Argh! To add to that, I've been so busy. We've finally started packing to move into our new house. We have 2 weeks and one day until we move, and we're going to be out of town the weekend after next! That doesn't leave much time. So, I've been trying to use my time during baby H's naps to sort through and organize everything and get it packed up. Today I'm going to work on packing up everything in the kitchen that we don't use on a regular basis.

I did want to do a quick little recap about last weekend. We had such a great time visiting my mom. Saturday morning we met up with one of my best friends from college for some Thai food. We had not seen her and her husband since before we left for Thailand, so it was so great to spend time with them. Their two year old little girl, Emarie had grown so much and was just the sweetest little thing. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures so you'll just have to take my word for it. After lunch we headed to my hometown and spent the rest of the evening hanging out with my mom, stepdad and sister.

Sunday we got up, took Olive for a walk, then came back and started cooking breakfast for my mom. Around lunch time the rest of my family came over. We had lunch and just hung out. I absolutely LOVE spending time with family, and I'm always so sad when it's over. Anyway, we got back home Sunday night just in time to catch the finale of Amazing Race. I love that show, and my favorite couple won, so I was so happy!!

And for a quick recap of other things going on right now - I'm still waiting to hear specifics about my job. As soon as I find out exactly what I'll be teaching, I can start planning. That's when things are going to get crazy busy for sure! Until then I'm just like a sitting duck as far as preparation goes. I'm so ready to get going on all of that stuff.

My two week challenge of going all vegan is going great!! I've had one main slip up, which happened last Friday night. It was date night, and long story short, I broke down and got ice cream with J. I didn't allow myself to feel guilty about it...I just enjoyed it and moved on. Other than that I've been holding steady, and I've been feeling so great! My mood, outlook and overall attitude have drastically improved. I have to say that at the same time I went vegan, I also started practicing dicipline in counting calories. So, the improvements could be pratially due to that. I truly believe that it's a combination of the two, and I'm loving it! Week 2 vegan ends on Sunday. I'll wait until then to decide what to do for sure, but I'm thinking I'll probably try to stick to a mainly vegan diet. I've started a second blog as a way to document my experience and keep track of my progress and struggles. Right now it is private, but we'll see how that goes as well. Either way, I probably won't update about my food life much on here because I know not all of my readers are interested in that. I'll use my new blog for that.

Sorry for the randomness. I'm hoping and praying that my blogging rut ends soon! I've still been keeping up with all of you, and I'm commenting as much as possible amidst the busyness!

Hope things slow down for you!

Don't worry, I get in a rut sometimes too... I'm infamous for picture posts when I've got nothing to talk about ;)
