Catching up

This may be a really random post. I feel like I'm so behind on posting from the last few days. I've just been really busy, and I haven't had time to keep up!

I know I still haven't posted about last weeks 10 mile long run. If you've read my profile you know that I tend to to put things off sometimes. I think I've just been avoiding writing about it because it was so not pretty. Now I've already gotten in another long run, a 7 miler this weekend, so I suppose I'll just do a short recap of each! The 10 miler was rough for a number of reasons.

1. I WAY overdressed. I knew it might get up to 60 degrees before we got back, but it was supposed to be in the low 40's when we left. I was able to shed my long sleeve by mile 2, but I was stuck in tights till the bitter end. It was so hot!!
2. I had serious knee pain and my legs felt like lead by mile 4.
3. We took a terrible route and were therefore dodging cars and curbs the entire way.
4. We tried Gu for the first time and we both nearly gagged. I could not get the taste out of my mouth!
Let's just say that by the last half mile it was all I could do to keep moving. We finished with a 10 minute mile average, which I wasn't too proud of, but at the same time I was just happy we finished!

This past weekend's run went much better. We took a much better/smarter route, and I dressed appropriately in a tank top and shorts. The weather was glorious! We tried sport beans on this one, and they were delish! I could seriously just eat them like candy! The only downside to this week was the wind. We fought it hard for at least half the run. It's good for us to get a little weather resistance though. On the upside, however, absolutely no knee pain! This was a first for the last few weeks of running. It felt so nice to just run with no pain!

On to other topics! Last week was really a great week all around, but two major events happened that just really lit up my days! First, on Wednesday this girl called me on skype:

This is P'Dew. You've heard me mention her before. She was my best friend in Thailand, and I love and miss her so much! So, I was sitting at our computer working on the budget Wednesday morning, and suddenly my screen lights up with her call! I hadn't talked to her other than by email since we left Thailand, so I was so excited!! She called during Henry's nap time so we got to talk for about an hour and a half! She really is one of the most faithful girls I've ever met, and she is so passionate about Christ. I wish everyone could meet her.

The next fun event happened on Thursday morning when I was walking out the door to go get Henry. J, aka - my adorable and loving husband, met me with a bouquet of flowers and a bagel from Panera! I just love when he does totally unexpected, thoughtful things like that. He had left for work early so that he could go get them and surprise me! Ahhh....to be loved:)

So sorry for the randomness; I'm not feeling in tip-top shape today. I've had lots of throat pain all day, so I'm hoping that gets better by tomorrow. Husband is cooking us a tasty dinner of pita pizzas while I lounge on the couch watching the Grammys. I think I might be the luckiest girl in the world. And I'm not biased at all:)

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend, and enjoy the last few hours!

Sorry about your first run. But at least the second sounds like it went much better. I'm so amazed by your discipline to stick with it!

And YAY for getting to talk to long distance friends!
