Finally I'm getting around to a recap of the weekend. It's about time now that it's almost time for another one! O'well.
Friday night we ended up not going to my hometown for several reasons, so instead J and I drove to the city. We first went to Fleet Feet (a running store in Edmond) so that I could ask them what I should do about my shoes giving me blisters. This is truly one of the greatest running stores ever! They agreed that this pair of Asics must just not be the "shoe for me" and they fitted me for a new one. So, now I'm back to Brooks. This time it's the Brooks Adrenaline instead of the Axiom. We also picked up some insoles for extra comfort and support, The Stick, shot bloks, gu, sport beans and Clif gels. After stocking up on running supplies, we went to one of our favorite Mexican food restaraunts, Ted's. It was excellent as always...and I ate a little too much as always.
Saturday morning we got up, finished packing and headed to my hometown. We decided to move our long run from Saturday morning to Sunday morning because the forecast predicted less wind and 10 degrees warmer for Sunday. We spent the entire day on Saturday moving things and organizing my mom's new house. It turned out to be really fun. Thanks so much to everyone who said a prayer for me. I really didn't get sad at all. I'm just so happy that my mom is finally happy. Watching her go through the divorce was the hardest time of my life. Now, God has blessed her with a wonderful husband and a beautiful new house. She deserves it more than anyone I know. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be to just focus on that, and not think about the past.
Sunday we got up and went out for our 9miler around 8:30am. We didn't get to try out our new insoles because they need to be broken in first, but I was excited to try out my new shoes. Also, J and I have never used any kind of energy supplement during a run before so we were excited to try out the shot bloks. I had some knee pain off and on throughout the run, but there wasn't much wind and the temperature was around 35 degrees so it was actually fairly pleasant. We hydrated about every 2 miles, and at mile 4.5 we took the shot bloks. I can't say that they made me feel like I was superman or anything, but I can say that we finished that last 4.5 miles really strong. There were rolling hills throughout the run, which slowed us to over a 10 minute pace, but we kept about an 8 min pace on the flat areas. Our overall time was about 1 hour 28 minutes, which means our average pace for the run was about 9 min 50 sec. I will definitely continue taking shot bloks or something similar if we're going to be going longer than about 45 minutes. I highly reccomend them! This weekend we're gearing up for a 10 miler. I'm a little nervous because we've missed a couple of short runs this week due to weather (our gym was closed because it's a part of the college campus, which was closed due to ice, and I'm not about to go take to the ice covered sidewalks!) I know it's all about the long runs though so we should be fine! We're planning on getting in 5 today after work so that should make me feel better.
So, the rest of Sunday we finished unpacking and organizing as much as possible. Then we headed home at around 5pm. After the hour drive back home all we wanted to do was lay on the couch together and relax. The run plus the moving for two days really did us in!
It was a great weekend all around for us. However, for Olive it was not quite as fun. Last week she started acting like she wasn't feeling too well, and then we started noticing that she was bleeding a little bit "down there." (Sorry if this is all a little TMI) So, looking a little bit moronic, we drove her to the vet only to find out that she is in heat! I had no idea that a dog her age would go into heat. It was a total surprise to us, and I'm sure that most of you are thinking how dumb we are. Either way, we certainly learned a lot and we will surely be getting little miss Olive spayed as soon as this "stage" is over. The bleeding part is only supposed to last a week, but she is definitely going on two weeks at this point. The poor little thing. We had to start making her wear a diaper all the time so she doesn't mess up the carpet or furniture. I don't think she likes it much, but she seems to understand that she has to wear it, and thankfully she doesn't fight it at all.
So, that's all for the weekend update! I hope everyone is having a great week! And I hope that everyone enjoyed LOST last night. It's so confusing at times, but also so exciting and intriguing! Love it!

What a crazy weekend you had! I'm glad the moving thing wasn't too emotional for you. I wish your Mom much happiness in her new place.
Congrats on your runs and good luck this weekend!
Awww poor Olive - but congrats on your big run!
your blog is just too cute! and little olive is precious!
Excited about following your blog!
Ahhh I loooove Ted's!! I miss going there since we don't live in the city area anymore. And we did the exact same thing with our Macy when she went into heat!! We were worried about her b/c she was swollen "down there" :) and it looked really odd...so the 24 hour vet line told us she was most likely in heat and not to worry. We were sooo embarrassed! lol :)
