The Biggest Loser (spoiler alert)...and a Challenge

What did ya'll think about The Biggest Loser last night? I thought it was inspiring as usual (I get inspired anytime I watch Jillian), but the ending was a bit disappointing to me. The teams had to vote between Damien and Joelle to go home. It's early enough in the season that I don't feel super attached to any of the contestants, but I definitely feel turned off by Joelle because of her attitude.

I try to feel sympathetic for her because obviously she has some issues going on that are causing her to act the way that she does. I guess I understand why the people who chose to keep her did so - they must think that she needs to stay on the show more than anyone because she needs the help. It's just kind of hard to totally agree with that decision when she acts as if she doesn't really care if she stays or not. If she goes home in the next couple of weeks because she isn't trying, then it's going to be really sad knowing that Damien could have done really well. O'well. Hopefully she will get it together soon...at least for the sake of her partner (who does come on a bit strong eh?)

Anyway. Every week I hear the advertisement for the challenge that TBL has going on right now, but because it's usually at the beginning of the commercials I'm not usually paying much attention. Last night, however, J had to work so I was watching by myself which caused me to pay a little more attention (what else was there to do?)

They have a challenge going on called The Pound for Pound challenge. You can read more about it here. Basically, for every pound that you lose between now and May 5th, General Mills will donate ten cents worth of food to Feeding America to help families in need. This is enough to provide one pound of groceries to a local food bank! You can go here and pledge how many pounds you want to lose! I figure that since I'm trying to lose 13 pounds anyway...I might as well help other people while I do it! Plus, it may provide a little extra incentive to stay on track.

This morning when I opened my yogurt for breakfast, I noticed that the foil top had writing on the bottom. I turned it over to find out that Yoplait is working with TBL on this challenge! For every yogurt lid you send in, ten cents will be donated to the same cause! So, for all of you who aren't trying to lose weight, this is another great way to help! Yoplait yogurt tastes great, and it's a great snack or sweet treat! So pick up a few, enjoy, and send in your lids! I'm excited to get to help in this way as well because I realize that ten cents for each of my thirteen pounds won't add up to much, but every little bit helps right?? Every time I eat a yogurt I just put the lid in a ziploc that is stuck on my refrigerator (this way I don't forget about it!)

I hate thinking of people all over America who don't have enough food available, when I have so much that it's hindering my health! It's so sad. Leave a comment if you want to do either part of the challenge with me! We can help keep each other accountable, and share how much we helped donate at the end! And of course leave a comment and say hi even if you don't want to join! :)

UPDATE: Okay, so after doing more research I realized that it's not only Yoplait lids that can help. You can mail in Pound For Pound Seals from many different General Mills packages. For every seal received by 12/31/09, General Mills will donate 10¢ to Feeding America up to a maximum donation of $275,000. So keep an eye out for any of these products as well!

I was a bit disapointed with the BL last night too. Joelle just doesn't seem to care at all! :( Poor Damien, but at the same time, it looks like him and Nicole are doing great at home! :)

That is really cool - I might have to look into that. I haven't been watching TBL this season, but I might start. It is a great motivator for sure!

Ii haven't seen that episode yet. It is tough to watch the contestants and not like some of their attitudes.. sometimes they come off harsh because of their own issues (let me emphasize the SOMETIMES! :)

I love the Biggest Loser and have thought about doing the pound for pound challenge as well! :) I want to lose 15-20 pounds and have lost 6 in 3 weeks...so I will definitely do this! :)

On Joelle, I was shocked that they kept her...and kept laughing everytime Allison Sweeney said, "Okay, Joelle, you have 4 votes, if you receive 1 more, you will be going home." You could tell that was annoying her! Made me laugh. :)
