Weekend fun and some great news

This is what the McCoy family looks like when they've just found a house they love!!

Yes, that's right. On Saturday my mother and father-in-law were in town, so we had set up some appointments to show them some houses we were interested in and two that we had not yet seen. When we walked in the door of the first one that we had not yet seen...I knew it was the one we had been waiting for. With every turned corner on our tour I fell in love with something else. J and I both absolutely loved it! It was exactly what we wanted - an older house with lots of charm and lots of updates. It was built in 1950, has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths (I was praying and hoping to find one with 2 baths) and 1600 sq. ft. So, we put in an offer that day, and after some negotiating with the seller, we've come to an agreement on the terms! We haven't actually closed on it yet of course, but if things go as planned we should be moving in at the end of May. I am so ecstatic! Here are a couple of pics of the outside.

I can't wait to do some landscaping and take down the basketball goal

I took some pics of the inside, but I think I'll wait and show the inside after the owner gets all of his stuff moved out. It's pretty clean already, but there is just some not so attractive furniture and such inside!

The negotiating process was a lot more stressful than I expected. This whole weekend was such an emotional roller coaster between being overjoyed, fearful, stressed, anxious etc. I just pray that the inspections and everything go well. I'll keep you updated.

So, this weekend was super fun, but super busy. I had absolutely no time to blog, and it took me forever this morning to try to catch up on all my missed reading. Sorry for the lack of commenting, but just know that I still read and totally enjoyed catching up with you guys!

Friday night my in-laws got into town. I cooked hamburgers (veggie burger for me!) for everyone so we ate and then we drove around a bit, showing some of the houses that we've been looking at. Later when we got back home I decided to try and give Olive a haircut. Her hair has been out of control lately, and had gotten to the point where she couldn't see a thing! Here is a before and after. I only cut her "bangs." I was too scared to do the rest!

Before

After - look at those beautiful brown eyes!

We hit the sack a little early Friday night because J and I had to get up early Saturday morning and get in a quick 12 miles (yes, 12 miles now seems quick.) We got home from the run just in time to hit up IHOP (my FIL's favorite restaurant) and then meet our realtor at the first house. After the next few hours of sheer excitement and craziness, we headed to Tulsa to see my brother and sister-in-law.

We spent Saturday night and Sunday in Tulsa, and then headed back to home on Sunday evening after a quick stop at Forever21. We spent Sunday night watching some design shows and reading for awhile. We are now switching over from watching Property Virgins and House Hunters to Design on a Dime etc. Pretty exciting switch if I say so myself!

Monday J and I had both taken off work because my mom, step dad and sister were coming up so they could see our house. Before they arrived we met with our lender to work out the financial details regarding the house, then ate a celebratory lunch of mexican food. The rest of the day we spent looking at our house and hanging out with my family.

While we didn't have the most relaxing or restful weekend ever, it was so good to get to spend so much time with family. And of course the house part was good as well! I hope everyone had a great weekend as well. It's so nice to have just started the work week today...only three days left!

I'm so excited for you! I remember when we found our house. I just knew it was the one. My hubby is big on comparing all options, but I knew it was the one. He eventually did too! I remember watching all of those design shows ( I still do). We got some great inspiration from them. We bought an older house and we fixed it up on our own, and it is still a work in progress, but so rewarding. Congrats!!! Olive looks adorable too :)

Wow!! Congratulations! Buying a house is so exciting! And I love the one you picked out! waiting to move in until May will be the hard part - once we decided on our house it seems like it took forever to move into it. I am impatient though and wanted to move in the same day we made the offer. :) Have fun getting ready for your new home Candice!
